The School of Evocation grants a Wizard the abilities "Evocation Savant" and "Sculpt Spells" at second level. The former halves the cost of scribing evocation spells into their spellbook from 50gp to 25gp per spell level, while the latter allows them to exclude allies from the harmful effects of their Evocation spells.

Elemental Damage sets are also quite effective published on Baldursgate 3fans a Giant Barbarian due to their Elemental Cleaver ability, with the Gloves of Belligerent Skies and/or Boots of Stormy Clamour being a particularly valuable option if you favor thunder or lightning damage. You could also equip Winter's Clutches, the Snowburst Ring, and/or the Coldbrim Hat to freeze your foes solid. Another option is to utilize the Thermoarcanic Gloves, Cinder Shoes, and Ring of Self Immolation in a heat setup, and throw on the Cindermoth Cloak to burn enemies that damage you.

When it comes to equipment, the Oath of Vengeance Paladin might consider grabbing the Gloves of Heroism, hidden in the Tollhouse in Act 1. These will provide the Heroism buff whenever the Paladin uses a "Channel Oath" ability. Players can then grab the Helmet Of Smiting from the Selunite Outpost (also in Act 1), and purchase the Armor of Devotion from Roah when they relocate to Moonrise in Act 2. The former provides temporary hit points whenever you apply a status effect using a smite spell ( Searing Smite inflicting a burn effect over time, for example), while the latter allows the Paladin to restore a Channel Oath charge at will once per long rest.

At level six, they gain Misty Escape, letting them turn invisible after taking damage once per short rest. Once invisible they can choose to cast Misty Step on their next turn, though doing so breaks the invisibility effect.

At level six, Necromancy Wizards get the abilities "Undead Thralls: Additional Undead" and "Undead Thralls: Better Summons." The former allows them to raise an extra corpse when casting "Raise Undead," while the latter empowers their undead with bonus HP equal to the Wizard's level and adds the Wizard's proficiency bonus to their damage rolls. At this point, the Necromancer is able to create multiple powerful undead to aid them in combat thanks to these two abilities.

At level Six, Wild Magic Barbarians gain three "Bolstering Magic" abilities, which allow them to provide a bonus to themselves or an ally in melee range. They can use "Bolstering Magic: Boon" to add a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls and ability checks or use their Bolstering Boon to restore a single level one, two, or three spell slot.

In Baldur's Gate 3 , Rogue builds can be enhanced further with the use of specific consumables. Certain potions, like the Elixir of Heroism, will grant combat-oriented bonuses for this best Rogue build, while others, like the Potion of Invisibility, will enhance the Rogue's ability to stay stealthy no matter the circumstances.

In the case of the Warlock, this is the Hexblade, whose pact with sentient magical weapons forged from shadow makes them masters of melee magic. This new subclass opens up all kinds of new playstyles for the Warlock, including some secret synergies with the Shadow Sorcerer, so this guide has been updated accordingly.

At level six, Illusion Wizards can "See Invisibility" as an action. This allows them to see invisible foes and has a decent chance of revealing them to allies, too (unless they succeed the Dexterity Saving Throw). Level 10 Illusion Wizards get "Illusory Self," allowing them to create an Illusory Double as a reaction to take a hit for them. This causes the incoming attack to automatically miss, and the double is instantly destroyed. This can only be used once per short rest.

The Bladesinging subclass initially grants Wizards proficiency in light armor and the performance skill, along with daggers, longswords, shortswords, rapiers, scimitars, and sickles. This allows them to fight much more effectively on the front lines, and also grants them special spellcasting animations when using these weapons. They also receive the Bladesong ability, which allows them to boost their Armor Class and Saving Throws by their proficiency bonus. This makes them much more durable, and it also allows them to generate Bladesong Charges.

A Wizard needs a good staff (or two, thanks to the dual-wielder feat), so players should pick up the Spellsparkler in Act 1 at Waukeen's Rest (Rescue Councilor Florrick and choose it as the reward) to boost their spell damage with lightning charges. Next, players should make a trip to the Underdark to purchase Melf's First Staff from Blurg. Along with providing a free cast of Melf's Acid Arrow once per long rest, it also gives a +1 bonus to spell save DC and spell attack rolls, making it easier to hit enemies with spells and making those spells harder to resist. The Staff Of Arcane Blessing (In the Arcane Tower's Basement) provides its wielder with the ability to cast Bless once per long rest, adding the "Mystra's Blessing" buff to anyone affected by the spell to make it even more effective. Players could also spend the time to assemble the Mourning Frost Staff in the Underdark to make all ice damage spells more effective.
