In addition to everything you unlock while leveling as a Warlock, your Subclass also determines what you unlock at certain levels. As a Warlock, you can select a subclass at Level 1, in the character creation menu.

The Githyanki give Warlocks an improved Mage Hand from level 1, the ability to improve party member's Jump distance at Level 3, and the Misty Step skill at Level 5 – three extremely useful abilities. Githyanki also give Warlocks armor proficiencies the class wouldn't normally have access to, namely light and medium armor, to further improve their defensive capabilities.

Baldur's gate 3 Spells guide Gate 3 allows players to further customize their character via a subclass, selected either at character creation, at level 2 or at level 3, depending on the class. Warlocks choose their subclass during character creation since their subclass indicates what kind of being they made a pact with in exchange for their power. Be it a Fiend, Archfey, or Great Old One, their powers are sourced from dangerous creatures with ulterior motives.

The Berserker Subclass replaces the normal Barbarian Rage with an improved version called "Frenzy." This has all the benefits of a standard Rage but also grants access to the abilities "Frenzied Strike" and "Enraged Throw."

At sixth level, Giant Barbarians gain Elemental Cleaver. This allows them to add acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage to their weapon while raging, and also adds the Thrown property to their weapon when used. Additionally, weapons under the effect of Elemental Cleaver will be returned to your hand immediately after being thrown, allowing for greater flexibility in throwing weapon builds. The elemental damage behaves like a damage rider when throwing the weapon, meaning the elemental damage is boosted independently by things like the Rage buff, Tavern Brawler, or the Ring of Flinging. This allows you to achieve much higher damage than expected with weapons enhanced using Elemental Cleaver.

There are a total of seven BG3 Domains (subclasses) Cleric players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Cleric subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.

In Baldur's Gate 3 , some classes don't have many choices to make while leveling thanks to the lack of spells, like the Rogue or Monk. Warlocks are not like other spellcasters in BG3 because they have limited spell slots that refresh every short rest instead of long one, and are mostly reliant on Cantrips which can be empowered with Eldritch Invocations.

Level 10 Transmutation Wizards get the ability "Shapechanger," which allows them to turn into a Bluejay and fly for up to 10 turns. If the Bluejay loses all of its HP, the Wizard will return to their original form with their original HP total. This can be great for mobility when exploring, but isn't likely to be helpful in combat.

Players looking for more consistent damage, as opposed to the extreme highs and lows of Glaives and Greataxes, should pick up a greatsword. Excellent options in Act 1 are the Everburn Blade, Svartlebee's Woundseeker, and Jorgoral's Greatsword. The Soulbreaker Greatsword and Sussur Greatsword are also decent picks, with the former being especially valuable if playing a Githyanki. During Act 3, non-gith characters should grab the Sword of Chaos or Balduran's Giantslayer for best results, while Githyanki should instead obtain the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane.

Baldur's Gate 3 offers players an array of different classes to choose from, each offering unique abilities and skills to aid them during combat and when exploring the world. The Warlock Class is a particularly unusual arcane caster that receives its power from a powerful and mysterious patron via a pact.

However, if you are more prone to engaging in dialogues in BG3 , the Guild Artisan background might be a better fit . This background grants proficiency in Insight and Persuasion, and tends to trigger inspiration when making items, repairing areas in the world, or identifying and engaging with artifacts.
