All Classes In Dune: Awakening (& What They Do)
2026.03.02 14:40
Ultimately, this Dune game wasn't very well executed, particularly because of its awkward controls, ridiculous camera angles, and lackluster graphics. The character models and animations were considered stiff and odd, ruining immersion for most players. Additionally, the voice acting was not done by the original cast from the show, which didn't go over well with their core audience. Sadly, Frank Herbert's Dune was a commercial and critical failure, and it was one of the final projects by Cryo Interactive, which went bankrupt shortly after the game launch
Awakening has me pretty excited about what's possible, though I expect it will take a lot of work before it reaches its full potential. As of this writing, the main issue the game is facing is its combat mechanics. Funcom is very receptive to feedback, however, and it's likely many of the issues in the Beta will be resolved by the time it fully releases in June. Regardless, Awakening is the only Dune game so far that really captures the grand scale of Arrakis , and I'm eager to start explor
Thankfully, Awakening’s Arrakis itself is great fun to explore. Not because of any unique visual choices - it’s a lot of rocks and sand dunes as you’d expect - but because of what you need to think about as you go from waypoint to waypo
Dune Awakening secrets 2000 is yet another RTS, but this installment was developed by Westwood Studios, the company behind Command & Conquer. _ Released in 1998, _Dune 2000 was a partial remake of Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty (see below), and it introduced several enhancements to the original while retaining core gameplay elements. Notably, Dune 2000 was upgraded to a Command & Conquer: Red Alert _ style, where the player could control multiple units at a time, unlike _Dune 2, among other updates that weren't possible with the origi
Overall, there is a unique class for just about every style of gameplay in _Dune: Awakening, _ and the ability to invest skill points in any of the different class trees opens up diverse playstyle choices. You don't need to focus entirely on your starting character's skill tree, though often this is the most straightforward option. Regardless of how you choose to play, it's a good idea to eventually choose and equip abilities from each class to get the full range of advantages during your journey to wake the Slee
Alternatively titled Dune 2: Battle for Arrakis, this Dune classic is easily one of the most beloved in the franchise. It was one of the first games to include features such as a mouse-driven system for base building and unit control, which was innovative at the time. This design laid the foundation for future RTS games. Dune II also introduced a world map for mission selection and a technology tree for building dependencies, which both contributed to dynamic and engaging gameplay. Its influence is present in iconic strategy games like Warcraft and Age of Empi
Troopers are a dedicated gunnery class in Dune: Awakening that specialize in enhancing ranged weapon tactics for rifles, scatterguns, and bigger weapons such as missile launchers and lasguns, all of which can be crafted after researching the associated schematics. Trained in the Landsraad's Great Houses, which are part of Dune's deeper lore from before the Butlerian Jihad, Troopers are an effective and powerful ranged class. They have dynamic skills suited for exploration and epic battles, and make use of a starting feature called a Suspensor Belt that enables unique abilit
The trooper class will give you big advantages when it comes to weapon maintenance and damage buffs, crowd-control, and mobility , but the skill tree is unlocked early on in the game, so it might be considered advantageous to choose a different class first and then synergize with it la
The feeling of spiritual powers permeates the playstyle, letting you become a telepathic terror with some truly satisfying combat mechanics. If you're looking for the assassin playstyle , this is your pick. Bene Gesserit is focused on high mobility, mastery of daggers, invisibility, and manipulating your targ
Every camp will have a mixture of melee and ranged attackers, and with a kit based around parries and deflecting projectiles, you'll start to think that bringing a knife to a gunfight isn't such a bad idea after
The world of Dune is ripe for video game adaptation, but similar to television or film, capturing the essence of what makes Dune special is a difficult and probably overwhelming task for developers. Many of the Dune games over the years have been largely limited by technology, just as the early David Lynch film was. After playing the Dune: Awakening beta , however, I have very high hopes that we might finally have a game that captures the awesome and massive scale of Arrakis and its sandworm-infested dese
This isn't just your regular soldier-type class; you'll be manipulating gravity in the heat of battle, slowing, stunning, or lifting your enemies into the air while tossing grenades into the mix. I also love the focus on weaponry expertise as it makes your experience as a highly-skilled trooper feel more immersi
